We are a local public health department and health center focused and committed to improving our communities’ health and well-being through compassionate, high-quality care. We have about 120 full/part- time employees and about 10 contract employees. We are governed by two boards that provide strategic direction and oversight of agency functions. Location: Alleghany County and Ashe County Field Work
Salary: $32,976 – $52,164
Hours: Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am -4:45 pm with expectation to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends to support client needs.

Job Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to visit farmworker camps in Ashe and Alleghany County to survey the sanitary conditions and health care needs of migrant workers and their families.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in overcoming farmworkers’ barriers to healthcare.
- Complete health assessments with farmworkers at farmworker locations to ascertain services needed.
- Circulate information to farmworkers regarding clinic services through state and local public agencies.
- Provides case management services such as assessment, referral, follow-up, and reassessment.
- Provides health education to farmworkers, laborers, and their families as needed.
- Complies with all NC Farmworker Health Program grant requirements.
- Coordinates and communicates regularly with the program manager to help improve farmworker outcomes.
- Ensures all program deliverables and objectives are met, and reports are delivered promptly.
- Attend relevant meetings in each county to improve farmworker health.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bilingual Spanish speaker with strong oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Considerable knowledge of and ability to enlist available community resources and medical services
- General knowledge of health policies, procedures, and statutes
- Skilled in communicating with various types of laborers, a variety of service delivery disciplines, and the general public
- Skilled in reading, writing, and arithmetical computations
- Skilled in analyzing data and the ability to apply independently to sanitary and health conditions in farmworker camps
- Ability to complete required records and reports • Ability to establish effective working relationships with the crew leaders, laborers, community agencies, and groups
Minimum Education & Experience
A degree from a two-year technical school or a community college associate program designed to prepare support personnel for human services agencies, and one year of experience in providing direct services to similar populations where extensive coordination and liaison with community resources are required; or graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of the above experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
