SPARTA, N.C. — AppHealthCare celebrated the expansion of the Alleghany Health Center on Friday, October 2, with a ribbon-cutting recognizing the completion of expanded clinic space and the community partnerships that made the project possible.
The expansion provides AppHealthCare with additional space to serve patients and strengthens the agency’s ability to provide accessible, high-quality health care to residents of Alleghany County and the surrounding region.
A significant investment in the project came from Carolina Complete Health, which donated $661,000 to support the expansion of the health center. The donation represents a major investment in access to health care in rural communities and in the continued growth of services available through AppHealthCare.
“We are incredibly grateful to Carolina Complete Health for their generous $661,000 investment in the Alleghany Health Center,” said Jennifer Greene, Health Director/CEO of AppHealthCare. “This donation is an investment in the health and well-being of our community and will help us create greater capacity to serve the people of Alleghany County. We are also thankful to our county partners and Board of Health and PIPH Board members for their continued support, leadership, and commitment to ensuring that our community has access to the health services it needs.”
The expansion reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the local health care system and ensuring that rural residents have access to services close to home. AppHealthCare Alleghany Health Center offers expanded clinic hours Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 8:00pm and 8:00am to 4:45pm on Friday.
AppHealthCare serves Alleghany, Ashe, and Watauga counties and provides a broad range of public health and clinical services including primary care and behavioral health. AppHealthCare accepts all private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, those who are uninsured, and offers a sliding fee scale based on income.
“Projects like this are possible because of strong partnerships,” Greene said. “We are proud to celebrate this milestone with Carolina Complete Health, our counties, our boards, our staff and the many community partners who continue to support the work of AppHealthCare.”
The expanded Alleghany Health Center will allow AppHealthCare to continue building its capacity to meet the evolving health needs of the community while providing a welcoming and accessible space for patients.
