Health Insurance Special Enrollment Period Ongoing
Do you still need health insurance? You may still qualify to purchase health insurance with financial assistance through the health insurance marketplace.
The Marketplace may be open for you and your family for 60 days after one of the following events:
- Losing your health insurance coverage
- Getting married or adding a member to your family
- Gaining legal immigration status
- Permanently moving to a new location
- Being released from incarceration
The Outreach and Enrollment program at AppHealthCare works to increase health insurance coverage and access to primary health care for residents of Ashe and Alleghany counties. It also provides enrollment assistance by completing coverage applications for community residents to access subsidized, low-cost and free health insurance programs through the health insurance marketplace, Medicaid, Medicare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). We engage in follow up conversations to assist community members in maintaining coverage and offer coverage renewal assistance for enrolled individuals. Each individual is different; we strive to offer structured patient and community education on health coverage, healthcare services and community based services to promote access to care and other supports. We also collaborate with various local organizations to build awareness, spur enrollment, and build referral linkages.
Currently, AppHealthCare can help you enroll for immediate coverage if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). Qualifiers for this period include any change in household size, loss of Medicaid/CHIP, change in citizenship status or a loss health care coverage due to moving. If you think you may qualify for a SEP or if you have questions regarding your health care options please contact Jessica Muldowney, Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator at (336) 246-9449 extension 2110.
